We have four free CPD accredited webinar recordings and resources in which researchers and practitioners discuss the role of artificial intelligence in social care and explore whether AI could improve social work and outcomes for children, young people and their families: buff.ly/f6pVNJb
Our new research found that, despite most local authorities in England having a #FamilyGroupConference service, referrals varied widely & only half resulted in an FGC taking place 🔎 📄 foundations.org.uk/our-work/pub... @wearecoram.bsky.social, @familyrightsgp.bsky.social, @lornastabler.bsky.social
You can do this right now: Think of a person who wrote a paper you love, whose work influenced or helped you, or has made your professional life better. Search up their email address. Shoot them a quick email of thanks. It means so, so much. This is a rough time of year, share some joy.
A reminder. Only 6.9% of people in Wales were born overseas. Just 2.9% of people in Caerphilly were born overseas. Whereas 38% of medical consultants in Wales were born overseas. Immigrants are not holding our NHS back, they are propping it up.
Kinship care is more prevalent than foster care or adoption, but we know less about these families. This #KinshipCareWeek, check out our latest blog 'What we still don't know about kinship care' and get in touch with us about your priorities for kinship care! ➡️ buff.ly/PiJSF8n #KinshipCare

Dame Stephanie Shirley has died aged 91. She adopted the name "Steve" in correspondence as letters signed Stephanie went unanswered. Despite such thoroughly ingrained sexism in computing, she built an astonishing tech career and did all huge amount to support other women in tech #histsci #histtech
Dame Stephanie 'Steve' Shirley, technology pioneer, dies aged 91
She founded the software company Freelance Programmers in 1962, which almost exclusively hired women, and in later life donated almost £70m of her fortune.

The UK Treasury has screwed Wales again! They've now classed a railway line running for Oxford to Cambridge as an "England and WALES" project. This robs Wales over £300m+ whereas Scotland and NI get their cash. It's a disgrace that this is still happening after the HS2 robbery.
When I saw this film last month I was keen to invite @omarmohamedsw.bsky.social to Wales. His film powerfully explores the experiences of care experienced people and activists Philadelphia trying to change the social care system. There are a lot of messages I think we can learn from here in Wales.

Great article! Our @cascaderesearch.bsky.social colleague @nellwarner.bsky.social has been supporting our centre (and all of @cardiffuni.bsky.social) to improve our inclusivity. Universities can feel inflexible, but there are many small changes that can be made that make a real difference.
"Try asking everyone how they prefer to work or communicate—normalise the differences between people and try to work with people’s strengths." There are ways to make workplaces feel more inclusive for neurodivergent colleagues, @abirimmer.bsky.social hears www.bmj.com/content/388/...
