piracy is culture-building. file sharing is pro social. it is good to send your friends links and files and zips and pdfs and stuff. some of the tightest knit most incredible fighting game communities are built around pirated games and downloaded roms and this is not an accident its a feature
atp you shouldnt be reacting to the first-order content of any publication by any major media outlet. you should be considering second-order effects: why did they publish this. what is this meant to cause or make me feel and who is it benefitting. take nothing in the news at face value

Corporate digital distribution has basically destroyed the communal sharing of culture. Instead of being an experience you can pass on to others, it's become individualized and tied to an account. From books to movies and games, it shouldn't be piracy to share things you've experienced and enjoyed.

Good to have a reminder every once in a while. It's easy to do, and the problem is likely to get worse. So make it a habit.
