Notice how of these films thrive on their themes about perseverance and overcoming adversity, even against a seemingly impossible enemy that can’t be defeated. That’s how much artistic expression is worth fighting for.

One thing that I'm glad about from this decade is that a couple of animated projects were initally scrapped by the studios but eventually saved and released to great success. Both Nimona and Coyote Vs. Acme proves that stupid execs and corporations really can't kill great art.

I can confirm, this is an issue across all screenings in North America. It’s not the theaters, it’s GKIDS. Seeing this lack of care from a company I look up to is kinda crushing. Was able to get a refund on my ticket but I still ended up wasting money on going to the theater. Very disappointed.

It's really sad to see the hate for Lesbian Space Princess since I actually met the directors 😭 They were really shy, super nice and just amazed they were able to get a wide release. They were big allies & struggled over including what eventually got read as transphobia. They welcomed criticism.

The Lesbian Space Princess hate brigade has me really angry. Half the responses I have seen are by people who havent even seen it, just the trailer. No its not a masterpiece and theres plenty of cringe but this whole thing is so gross, why couldnt every fandom FOR something like coyote vs acme?

Queer art needs to be perfect or else you will be dog piled. Queer art can't be perfect, or else someone will start dog piling it to make themselves feel good. The fact so many queer critics want to be the next Lily Orchard to become famous for criticizing queer art is kinda sad.

Can I just say how much this has always ticked me off? Not because of the ship itself, but because these tweets are ALWAYS fueled by “Miles can’t end up with a white girl!!! BLASPHEMY” and “Mixed race couples are a sin!!!” Why is this so normalized?

I'm a huge of GKids for how they help out in wanting to distribute non-mainstream indie animated movies from other countries for what they bring with their own style of artistry, storytelling and filmmaking that really show what animation can do, but I think that they should start improving.

Between this and Daveigh Chase, it is devastating to lose people this young, but it’s also very saddening how the entertainment industry and the US economy chews up these child actors and spits them out like they were nothing. In a perfect world, these two would still be here.

These “everyone is so biased against Disney raaaahhh” people always conveniently ignore that most people like Soul, Luca, Encanto, Zootopia 2, Hoppers, and the like because those movies are…yknow…good? Most of the hate for the lesser movies isn’t because they’re Disney. It’s because they’re bad.

It IS true that a lot of the Disney hate boils down to bandwagoning, and that should be called out to a degree. But that shouldn't overshadow how many of us (including myself) are critical because we WANT to see better from them, and can give credit when we believe it's deserved.
