Carney: "We're living through the consequences of a world that collectively hasn't taken climate change seriously enough. Canada will do our part, not with promises and pronouncements, but with bold actions and major investment." With empty words and more pipelines?

The Nous Group! Neoliberal vampires. "“Five, ten, maybe 15 years into the process, universities are beginning to realize what a mistake it has been,” he said. “They’re increasingly admitting the cost savings aren’t there.” But in Canada, Nous is already on to the next market." Public Health!

Anyone who has witnessed outrageous behaviour of university admins should read this, including those here to see Dalhousie ‘negotiations’ during faculty strike a year ago. If you’re concerned about health privatization — including out here — read to the end: breachmedia.ca/a-notorious-...

AI is already making it harder for some workers to find their next job. As Nicholas Salazar, executive director of the Fund for Guaranteed Income, put it: "The goal is to help participants transition and find another job. Without the support, they could fall into permanent unemployment."

Business Insider reports tech workers are piloting a basic income program for people displaced by AI.

In a nutshell, Carney has chosen to go all in on gas fired turbines, cuz they meet his selection criteria of appeasement, & speed of implementation. Sourcing from Mitsubishi Power Americas or GE Vernova, headquartered in the US, helps Carney counter trump's America First criticisms.

I already know the LPC plans, since I have many friends in the know. The reason is simple. Fossil fuel lobbyists want it. The western Premiers demand it. Carney lusts to win the hearts of Albertans & FF execs. And gas turbines are the expedient plug and play option

So frustrating. "There is a legal definition for pornography, and nothing, to my understanding, in any Alberta library meets that legal definition of pornography," said Sheppard, who is also a member of the Coalition of Alberta Public Libraries' steering committee. "So then it becomes subjective."

www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... As Andrew Jeffrey explains, identifying and shelving library material with potentially explicit visuals is a time-consuming and fraught process that has Alberta librarians worried about the implications #AbLeg

#ClassWar Why DST (AI): "higher consumer spending: outdoor recreation, entertainment, retail golf and hospitality sectors want extended evening light to increase revenues wealthy favor evening leisure time over the hidden costs of dark, cold winter mornings that affect early-rising workforces"

One thing about the permanent daylight time debate that some folks miss is that the policy will harm vulnerable groups the most: kids, teens, low-income & shift workers, HCW (mainly women), those with disabilities or chronic illnesses like sleep apnea, mental health & metabolic conditions

This is REALLY important. “Over 50% of Americans say climate change is a serious threat; only 10% think their compatriots feel the same That perception gap on the issue is among the highest in the world, per a new Gallup poll.” They want you to think you’re alone. You’re not. #ClimateCrisis

Listen to how a proposed Tantramar diesel / gas plant could increase energy bills, lock communities into fossil fuels for decades, and put important ecosystems in New Brunswick at risk – all when cheaper renewable and battery solutions exist. Also give a follow: bsky.app/profile/sier...
