Touring @roostersbrewco.bsky.social and learning just how much hard graft and expertise go into our independent breweries. The beer sector has the potential to be our crowning jewel but only if we cut the red tape and make sure they get access to the right markets.
✂️ Cut VAT for hospitality, accommodation and attractions temporarily. Boost footfall and help businesses and customers. 🧾 Replace business rates with a Commercial Landowner Levy. Move that burden and stop penalising productive businesses. 😮💨Give councils proper powers to tackle illicit vape shops.

🏆 It’s been a bit of a week for milestones: 🚌 We won the campaign to scrap time restrictions on disabled bus passes 🏃♂️ I’ve hit my 50th parkrun ✉️ 20,000th piece of casework
This is a huge win for the disabled community. I spoke to Carolyn Quinn about the long-fought campaign to scrap time restrictions on disabled bus passes so they can be used during on peak hours. It’s good to see cooperation from Government on what matters to people with disabilities.
Disabilities don't start at 9:30 AM, and now disabled bus passes won't either. Huge credit to Lib Dem MP Tom Gordon and campaign groups like Transport for All. Their fight against unfair restrictions has led to nationwide change for fairer, accessible transport!
Disabilities don't start at 9:30am. For years, disabled bus pass holders could only travel free between 9:30am and 11pm on weekdays, shutting many people out of getting to work on time. That's changing, thanks to the tireless campaigning of my Lib Dem colleague Tom Gordon MP.
🚌 Spent the morning down at the local bus depot with Jackie Snape, Chief Exec of Disability Action Yorkshire, celebrating the huge win - time restrictions on disabled bus passes to be scrapped 🥳 This change will make a huge difference to the lives of disabled people. 👏 Thanks again Andy Burnham!
🥳 WE DID IT! 👏 🚌 My fantastic team ordered these giant cut-out frames for our parliamentary drop-in campaigning to scrap disabled bus pass time restrictions - and now it’s happening. ⏰ Disabilities don’t start at 9am, neither should disabled bus passes - and soon, they won’t!
Hey Andy, I hear you don’t mind a pasty from Greggs, and you are on your listening tour 👂 Well if you’re passing Knaresborough there’s something you might want to know👇
Out with local campaigner Tom Cavell-Taylor in Burton Leonard. The village has taken significant housing growth - but the investment in the local school hasn't followed. We wrote to North Yorkshire Council in June, yet we're still waiting on a reply.
Great to stop by Resurrected Bites in Killinghall today for lunch with Cllr Peter Lacey. It’s always a pleasure to support their fantastic local cafés and the important work they do.
🕺 Had an absolutely cracking evening at Scarborough Open Air Theatre watching the Scissor Sisters. 🎶 An amazing atmosphere, thousands of people singing along, & a reminder of what a fantastic venue we have on the Yorkshire coast. ☀️ Brilliant live music, great company, & a perfect summer evening.
In Harrogate, elections are shaping up to be a head to head between the Lib Dems & Reform. Tonight’s by-election result👇 🌹LAB: 5.1% (-4.9%) 🔶LD: 61.2% (+21.2%) 🌳CON: 12.5% (-4.5%) ➡️RUK: 15.6% (-9.4%) 🌱 GRN: 5.0% (-3%) Turn out: 30.7% Congrats to Cllr McManus
Just some of our fantastic team out today for the Coppice Valley by-election 🧡

A really productive meeting with the Health Minister, DHSC, and NHS officials to talk about my experience of living with ulcerative colitis - and how we raise awareness and improve inflammatory bowel disease care across the country.
Great to meet with Andrew & Asma, the new operators of Knaresborough Banking Hub, just off the Market Square on Kirkgate. The following banks are there: NatWest - Monday, Halifax - Tuesday, Santander - Wednesday, HSBC - Thursday, Barclays - Friday. Mon–Fri 9–5. Spread the word!
Putin's war is still raging. Ukrainians are still being killed. Russia should be nowhere near the Olympics. The IOC must reverse this shameful decision. @tomgordonld.bsky.social
So, after complaining about the Government wasting taxpayer money, Nigel Farage is triggering a by-election, costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds to pump up his ego and dodge questions about his finances. 1/3
🍸 Slingsby Gin is a brand Harrogate is rightly proud of. This week I asked the Government to back its new owners, Chris and Asma - and the Minister committed to helping them access support to grow the business.
🏃♂️ Good morning from the Stray and #raceforlife2026 here in Harrogate. 👏 You can donate to Cancer Research here: fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/toms-ra...
Then it was on to the Starbeck Festival this afternoon, which was even bigger and better than last year. A brilliant celebration of our local community, with so many people coming together to make it such a success. Well done to everyone involved!
This morning, I visited Bilton & Woodfield Community Library, where it was great to catch up with local groups, including the Conservation Group and the Historical Society, and hear about the fantastic work they’re doing.
1. Today in Parliament I raised the growing concern over “Masha and the Bear” a Russian cartoon streamed to British children on Netflix and ITVX, and flagged by Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation as a Russian soft power tool.
£3 a trip, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year - that’s the unfair cost disabled people in North Yorkshire face just to get to work before 9am. Disability bus passes shouldn’t have time restrictions on them. Agree with me and Andy Burnham? Sign the petition 👇 www.tomgordon.org.uk/disabled-bus...
☀️ Lovely morning for parkrun, this time I popped over to the one at Conyngham Hall in Knaresborough 🏃♂️ 🍳 A fair few lovely chats with folks, both before and after, and followed by a cracking breakfast and coffee at Marigold Cafe 🚣♀️
