A really productive meeting with the Health Minister, DHSC, and NHS officials to talk about my experience of living with ulcerative colitis - and how we raise awareness and improve inflammatory bowel disease care across the country.
Great to meet with Andrew & Asma, the new operators of Knaresborough Banking Hub, just off the Market Square on Kirkgate. The following banks are there: NatWest - Monday, Halifax - Tuesday, Santander - Wednesday, HSBC - Thursday, Barclays - Friday. Mon–Fri 9–5. Spread the word!
Putin's war is still raging. Ukrainians are still being killed. Russia should be nowhere near the Olympics. The IOC must reverse this shameful decision. @tomgordonld.bsky.social
So, after complaining about the Government wasting taxpayer money, Nigel Farage is triggering a by-election, costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds to pump up his ego and dodge questions about his finances. 1/3
🍸 Slingsby Gin is a brand Harrogate is rightly proud of. This week I asked the Government to back its new owners, Chris and Asma - and the Minister committed to helping them access support to grow the business.
🏃♂️ Good morning from the Stray and #raceforlife2026 here in Harrogate. 👏 You can donate to Cancer Research here: fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/toms-ra...
Then it was on to the Starbeck Festival this afternoon, which was even bigger and better than last year. A brilliant celebration of our local community, with so many people coming together to make it such a success. Well done to everyone involved!
This morning, I visited Bilton & Woodfield Community Library, where it was great to catch up with local groups, including the Conservation Group and the Historical Society, and hear about the fantastic work they’re doing.
1. Today in Parliament I raised the growing concern over “Masha and the Bear” a Russian cartoon streamed to British children on Netflix and ITVX, and flagged by Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation as a Russian soft power tool.
£3 a trip, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year - that’s the unfair cost disabled people in North Yorkshire face just to get to work before 9am. Disability bus passes shouldn’t have time restrictions on them. Agree with me and Andy Burnham? Sign the petition 👇 www.tomgordon.org.uk/disabled-bus...
☀️ Lovely morning for parkrun, this time I popped over to the one at Conyngham Hall in Knaresborough 🏃♂️ 🍳 A fair few lovely chats with folks, both before and after, and followed by a cracking breakfast and coffee at Marigold Cafe 🚣♀️
@tomgordonld.bsky.social, MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough: "I don't want to keep looking back to ten years in the past. I want to look forward and that should include making sure we’ve got better and stronger relationships". We can't change the past. But we can make sure our future is European.
I was really touched by Noah’s story when his mum reached out. Thank you for letting me share it in the campaign to improve SEND provision and home to school transport. 1/2
Yesterday, @tomgordonld.bsky.social made it clear to the Government how the LGBT+ community feels about the new draft EHRC Code of Practice. Thank you for joining the other @libdems.org.uk speaking out against this, Tom. 🧡 We won't stop fighting this until the law is changed.
Happy Pride Month. I will not stand for anyone being excluded from participating in public life because there aren’t facilities they can safely use. Not now, not ever.
A near £900-a-year “tax on getting to school” is hitting families across North Yorkshire. Children are being forced onto longer, riskier routes while communities fear for their future. I’ve secured a Parliamentary debate on this very issue. Read more👇 www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/country-and-...
MPs urged to join Parliamentary debate on controversial Dales school transport policy
The Conservative-run local authority brought in plans last year to restrict free home-to-school transport to pupils’ closest schools, which it said will save £3m a year from its budget.

Having reserved spots for a particular religious group in our Parliament is absolutely crackers in the 21st century. Faith leaders can make valuable contributions, but nobody should get an automatic seat in our legislature. Read my comments below👇 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Tom Gordon MP writes…What should the Liberal Democrats stand for?
The public are very well acquainted with what the Liberal Democrats are against – Brexit, Donald Trump, the sewage scandal, and more. But in this new, fragmented and up-for-grabs political landscape, ...

Fantastic to welcome Lord Purvis, Leader of the Lib Dems in the House of Lords, to Harrogate on Friday evening. We had a fascinating discussion on international affairs, with a great turnout - lots of new faces joining our local Lib Dem team. Join today: libdems.org.uk/join-local
So Eurovision’s values are apparently optional now. The EBU stood with Ukraine - until it became inconvenient. Now they’re admitting Russia could return to #Eurovision while missiles still fall on Kyiv. Not neutrality. Moral cowardice. Read more👇 www.lbc.co.uk/article/russ...

Great to visit Thistle Hill Care Home with Cllr Hannah Gostlow and see the fantastic care being provided for residents. Their new extension for younger people with physical disabilities and acquired brain injuries is a brilliant investment in specialist local care. Thank you for the warm welcome!
Congratulations to my mum on her re-election, along with Cllr Rachel Speak’s. Sadly, we didn’t get Sharon over the line with them. Lib Dems are now the largest opposition party on Wakefield Council & will take on the role of holding the new Reform-run administration to account.
🗳️ Out knocking on doors in Bradford last night. 👏 Brendan Stubbs is one of the hardest working local councillors I know. 🔶 Only Brendan and the Lib Dems can beat Reform at this election.
Well that turned out to be more of a rollercoaster than anticipated! A fantastic day, the atmosphere is just unrivalled, all going well until somewhere around 32-34km. 🧵 1/4
87 days ago I left hospital after my ulcerative colitis landed me there. Today I’m running the London Marathon for Crohns & Colitis UK. If you’re able to donate: www.justgiving.com/page/tomgord...
My MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social is running the marathon tomorrow. Despite his ulcerative colitis. Yeah he’s a hero of mine x
