Lapsed historian, having the best mid-life crisis. Personal account: all the stupid opinions expressed are entirely my own, and nobody else's. he/him

It’s nice to know that the Premier League still acknowledges at least SOME laws: although in this particular instance, it’s Betteridge’s Law of Headlines…

BBC headline: Carrick future under major threat - can he survive?

The accompanying photo shows the current (though probably not for much longer) Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, who looks like he’s about to bite the interviewer on the nose.

I freely admit that I know pretty much nothing about Brazilian politics; but even so, it does still make me chuckle to see that Flávio Bolsonaro is constantly referred to as “Bolsonaro’s son”. As far as I can tell, he’s essentially Shitt the Younger.

BBC headline: Brazilians choosing between Lula and Bolsonaro's son in presidential election run-off

Rambling Rob Jenrick on the TV this morning, once again lambasting Schrödinger’s Migrants: those nefarious fiends who are simultaneously living the high life on unemployment benefits, while also stealing the jobs of decent, hard-working British people who vote Reform.

1) Selling off surplus government assets at a Sunday morning car boot sale. 2) Sending everyone some raffle tickets, and pressuring them to sell them to their family, like back when you were in the Scouts. 3) YouTube influencing. 4) Getting a second job, governing another, much wealthier country.

BBC headline: Four ways Labour could raise money in the Budget without hiking income tax

I can understand how Prince William could be mistaken for other people - he does after all have about 100 assorted relatives with exactly the same face - but Prince feels like a bit of a stretch. Or it’s just some journalistic twaddle to justify a really bad pun headline on a lazy Sunday.

The Daily Star headline “Purple Reign”, showing Prince William’s head badly superimposed onto the body of the diminutive purple pop star Prince.

The few accompanying words state “PRINCE William claims he is often not recognised and one time a bloke thought he was pint-sized pop legend Prince. Wills said: "He wanted me to sing Purple Rain."
