This might actually be the first time that I’ve ever had a genuine sense of empathy for Donald Trump. Because I vividly remember my grandmother saying “moving cameras”, when what she meant to say was “video”. It was when she was struggling with language after her first stroke.

It seems increasingly likely that Trump is just going to spend much of this term of office brooding on the toilet on Air Force One, occasionally issuing forth from his own unflushed filth to lie to the waiting media about deals that don’t exist.
A 70 is not terrible; but alas, in the league table of greatest ever despot golfers, Trump still lags quite some way behind his fellow dictator Kim Jong Il, who in 1994 famously scored just 34, a phenomenal thirty-eight under par, and on his first ever round to boot. Now THAT’s golfing, Donald.

A friend and I used to sit at the desks in the Bodleian Library that we were told were the ones that Lewis and Tolkien preferred; and every so often one of us would whisper “God is a wizard!”, and the other would hiss back “God is a lion!”, and then we’d knock it on the head and go to the pub.

Not only is Trump once again clearly lying about a non-existent deal, but the word he wants is “parameters”.
Imagine how delicious it would be if Trump’s final downfall starts with a dodgy government contract he awarded to his neighbour in Mar-a-Lago, that he just can’t lie his way out of.

I think it’s telling that people will endlessly debate the “best Batman” (it’s Adam West, by the way), but nobody has EVER asked who the “best Superman” is, because, well, Christopher Reeve.
