Nice bait. Maybe the difference is that Zohran actually got one of us released from ICE detention in less than 12 hours, while Schumer more or less implied Mahmoud deserved it when he was first kidnapped and then sat on his hands and did nothing about it.

"For the mayor of New York to unequivocally use the term genocide to describe Israel’s counterattack was notable." Is it "notable," though? According to every poll, a large majority of Democrats (along w an array of genocide expert and human rights groups) think Israel has committed genocide.
I'd just add that it is indefensible at this point to say that Mahmoud Khalil was "seemingly" targeted for his speech, as if there's some mystery about this. There was a federal trial about it. knightcolumbia.org/documents/ah...

Glad that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social was able to make this happen but also let’s not normalize a system in which the secret police kidnap students and then they are released only because the mayor makes a call to the president.
Mayor Mamdani secured the student’s immediate release, but this doesn’t change the fact that Columbia University allowed this to happen.

This is why you can't really collaborate with the feds under any circumstances. If your policy is "we will only collaborate with them when it's unrelated to civil immigration enforcement" then the Trump administration will just lie about what they're doing!

BREAKING: Columbia student kidnapped by DHS! Early this morning, DHS agents entered a Columbia Residential building under the guise of searching for a “missing person” and abducted a student without any intervention. This took place just one day after our ICE off Campus rally. 🧵
