why would you try to lock down all the big picture elements of your game before going anywhere near polish when you can instead rush into making something that "looks finished" which ends up introducing rigor mortis to the rest of the project that you have to work around. absolute waste of time.
@plasmatron.bsky.social maybe dumb question but was this your work? how did that come about? youtu.be/-xMqo8Lww2c
IIRC there was a YouTuber who managed to lose XCOM 2 on his first turn of the first mission. Started on a roof, one of their soldiers got psychic'd by an alien, panicked, and grenaded his own team, blowing up the roof tiles and killing them all from fall damage.
I can't find the exact screenshot but on my playthrough of XCOM:EU, I had a late game mission where these five dipshits were all set up with 95% overwatch shots on a guy that my Support triggered. They all missed and then he Crit one-shot my Support. That's XCOM, baby!
I'm doing a little experiment with pre-rendered backgrounds. I wanted the backgrounds to look lousy as hell, btw
I'M STUCK ON THIS FUCKING ISLAND FULL OF NUTTERS AND I CAN'T GET OUT

Heard an absolutely rancid cover of Super Trouper today. Just fucking shit. Totally vile prolapsed shitter music.
its easy to be cynical about hippies these days but i think peace love and understanding was a pretty understandable reaction to 1. growing up during and immediately after the most destructive conflict in history, and 2. living at the height of the Cold War.
if you EVER get called for a meeting and they say “don’t bring a union rep” bring a union rep
'The University and College Union (UCU)’s Edinburgh branch said staff had been called into “informal meetings at less than 24 hours' notice” and told not to bring union representatives.'
really interesting there's not even a hint of pushback at the claims made by the High Command in this BBC article, and by interesting I mean unsurprising, and by unsurprising I mean infuriating www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
War may be coming. Are we psychologically ready?
The military and government say the risk of conflict is growing, but we may not be mentally ready for it

Going back in time to tell 2012 me that the Thrift Shop guy turns out to have bigger balls than the band that wrote I Will.
Tha beagan Gàidhlig agamsa, I devour everything about its history and its culture whenever I can, and I am not content for this country to remain in its deep sleep. Native Scots can't threaten me with Scotland, I love it more than most of them do.
I know nothing about Helluva Boss beyond the fact that a friend once showed me the cotton candy song and I thought it was cute.
Glad to see my lifestyle of beating up old women on public transport represented in games
Imagine we just woke up one day and the UK just didn't exist anymore. People dancing, festivities in the streets, manna falling from heaven in a show of divine benevolence. Such a world would drive me mad.
BLOCKED for Emerson Lake and Palmer apologia; sentenced to consecutive 90 days of Pink Flag and/or Lust for Life listening.
That album is an absolute prog masterpiece—the vinyl edition captures those synths and orchestration in full glory. Trilogy is essential listening for anyone serious about their turntable collection: REDACTED
Me next to the director of Paddington back when comedy wasn’t afraid to take on the Scotch 😀
Whenever I get frustrated or depressed looking for a job, I just imagine going Fear and Hunger Lizardman on Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek, and a deep sense of inner peace and fulfillment comes over me.
