Finally getting back to some game dev. Pretty happy with how this enemy design came out. In engine, I've already added particle effects to make it a flaming skull (hence the orange eyes).

sad news for all the vibe coders which apparently includes the leadership of this webbed site but i can do this cool trick where once i determine what the structure of the code should actually be to avoid future tech debt i can simply put it down into text at the speed of typing you know. coding
Cars are famously a great technology to have redesigned civilization around
People who aren’t using AI to code at this point are delusional or lying, trying to ride a horse down the highway and backing up the traffic instead of asking “what can we do to make cars safer and electric.” They have no ethical high ground
Ironic how even the metaphor fails to understand the underlying issues. Safer / electric cars are not the solution, expanded public transport is. Those that don't use AI to code (me) aren't just trying to ride an ethical high horse. I actually enjoy the act of writing code / working on a problem.

First mini I've ever painted, done at the free paint & take at PAX West. My wallet trembles in fear for the future...
Where's my fucking open-source image editing tool that actually competes with Photoshop? Where's my Wayland compositor that genuinely doesn't suck? Where's my fix for every NVidia driver problem on Linux? You keep saying how great these tools are then making nothing good with them!
…that means that YOU CANNOT PROMPT ENGINEERING YOUR WAY OUT OF THE FUNDAMENTAL ARCHITECTURE OF THESE SYSTEMS. They are GOING to output bullshit, because they are Bullshit Engines.
Apparently the crippling Satisfactory addiction will continue until moral improves
In an act of terrorism against my free time, I have started playing Satisfactory

Rhythm games are the most distilled form of gaming for 2 reasons: 1. It's all about pressing buttons at the right time 2. We keep playing it for the music
Alright y'all, this is it! The final stretch for the game industry hardship fund. We've got $13k to raise in 14 hours to meet the final goal, I think we can do it. itch.io/b/3802/game-...
In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...
the skeleton key to understanding contemporary consumer culture is that doing a good job costs money so corporations have abandoned the concept
This did up being successful. Now I just need to multi thread it...
Love stewing on a problem for multiple days until the solution finally manifests right as I'm going to bed (genuinely). Now to implement it and see if it actually works...

Great piece synthesizing why LLMs "work" for coding, and why I'll never use them
I wrote about if LLMs can make software and how programmers fall for delusions of power
how it feels to be computer literate enough to avoid giving my bank account information to peter thiel in order to log on to a website
Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people. The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.
Today is a momentous day for the workers of Arena! After months of planning, waiting and organizing, our dream is finally a reality; the votes have been counted, and our union of UWOTC-CWA has been officially elected. From this day forward, we have a union!
