Congratulations to @jameyj.bsky.social for successfully defending her doctoral dissertation "Re-Storying Indigenous Trans Women in the Colonial Pacific Northwest, 1814-1895" yesterday. She brought everyone to tears with her amazing archival work and loving recuperation of her subjects' lives. Brava!

Had the loveliest of times attending my first Western History Association in Albuquerque this week! And extremely humbled to share I received the WHA Jensen-Miller Prize for best article in women's and gender history of the American West 📚🤓 #wha2025

Grateful to attend the #SHEAR2025 Annual Meeting (my first!) I'm presenting a counter-history of "contact" as experienced by Indigenous trans women along the "Western frontier." And always-forever sharing my fav history fact: Indigenous trans womanhood is at least 4,500 years older than the USA.

The FBI is now going after trans people and their healthcare. Today it's gender affirming care, tomorrow abortion. This is the authoritarian playbook on display.

A tweet from the official FBI Twitter account dated June 2, 2025, reads: "Help the FBI protect children. As the Attorney General has made clear, we will protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of gender-affirming care. Report tips of any hospitals, clinics, or practitioners performing these surgical procedures on children at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov." The tweet has 106K views.
