Excited to present a new preprint with @nkgarg.bsky.social: presenting usage statistics and observational findings from Paper Skygest in the first six months of deployment! 🎉📜 arxiv.org/abs/2601.04253

🎉 Exciting news! 🎉 Bluesky is providing more tools for feed developers -- in particular, they now send us data on feed usage, e.g., which posts you saw on Paper Skygest. We'll be using this to analyze A/B tests to improve the feed and study academic Bluesky.

Also new in v1.109: custom feed operators now receive more interaction events. If you run a custom feed, now you'll know when people like, quote, repost, reply, and see posts in your feed. All valuable signals that can help you drive higher-quality recommendations in your feeds.

Because Skygest currently picks up all pdfs, we know we include court cases and legal discussion. We are considering explicitly excluding such posts (e.g., courtlistener links). Please reply if you have a strong opinion in either direction or have other common false positives that we should exclude
