1. Mitch McConnell suffered a fall on June 14 and has not been in the Senate for two months. But he's continued to get paid his salary of 174K/year. Since he entered the Senate in 1985, McConnell has voted against creating or expanding medical leave — paid and unpaid — at least 23 times.

Kelly: Trump knows nothing about this stuff… He's a marginally failed real estate developer with multiple bankruptcies. He shouldn't be weighing in on systems on aircraft carriers.
Have to reshare this every time I see it. Raymond Chandler mocking science fiction in 1953 and sounding cool as hell. He should have written some space stories.
This shocking act by the Trump Administration should send a chill down the spine of everyone who cares about dismantling white supremacy and authoritarianism.

I have an obsession with the MAGA artist John McNaughton because everything he paints is so laden with bludgeoning, hypertextual, incoherent literalism that his is the only human-made art I might actually rank below AI slop. All that being said, even I was blown away by this piece, ‘Trump Shrugged’:
June 28: Belgium’s diamond industry gifted Trump an 18-karat gold ring encrusted with 321 diamonds and 75 gemstones. July 24: European diamonds got their exemption from Trump’s tariffs. I'm investigating what looks like cartoonish corruption.
What happens when you mix Elizabethan tragedy with Dungeons & Dragons mechanics? Nearly 900 shows later, Shelby Bond has perfected the art of the interactive quest at the Gilded Balloon. #EdinburghFringe
Why Dungeons and Shakespeare is the Edinburgh Fringe’s most charmingly chaotic RPG experience
Forget traditional actual plays. Shelby Bond’s Dungeons and Shakespeare turns Edinburgh Fringe audiences into heroes, monsters, and accidental tragedies.

Trump voters love Trump because he tells them explicitly that the system has failed, and makes it okay to be a criminal. It's why evidence of his many crimes doesn't dissuade them. His crimes are why they vote for him. His crimes make their crimes permissible.
Anyway I think about that when I think about Trump voters. We all implicitly understand that the system has failed and that it's all bullshit. Some people are pretending, like the party apparatchiks in Poland, that the system still works the way it's supposed to. But most people don't believe them.

Nolan's The Odyssey not having a post-credits teaser for The Aeneid seems like a missed franchise opportunity (The Aeneid post credits scene would obviously be for Dante's Inferno).
