We won’t learn from these incidents so long as people flip offender and victim. Stevens was openly bigoted toward the nominee, who responded she was no longer welcome in his campaign, and then she endorsed another bigot. The througline is Haley Stevens’ bigotry, not el-Sayed responding once.

I can see 20 years from now remembering this moment. And like, hey, remember when Haley Stevens had the endorsements of the entire Democratic Party establishment, lost the primary, and then two days before the general election endorsed the Republican after the Democratic nominee dissed her?

The #1 Bluesky trend right now states that AES disinvited Stevens from the rally... and, that is incorrect. Debbie Dingell, who is my Rep, disinvited her. She did it Lady Olenna Tyrell style - "tell her it was me." Go look it up.

The disgusting and frankly racist way Haley Stevens uses Black voters as a prop in her demented and deluded power game is emblematic of a much bigger centrist Dem problem. It is utterly despicable across the board.

HALEY STEVENS ENDORSED MIKE ROGERS AT A BLACK CHURCH. This white, gentile woman spent the entire year claiming she was acting on behalf of Black and Jewish people--and then endorses fascist control of the U.S. Senate. What a despicable human being.

I am going to articulate this imperfectly, because I am furious, but: As a white woman who was raped by a "progressive" colleague running red-state blue campaigns in 2014 and has stayed committed, I have zero fucking tolerance for white women who throw the movement under the bus for their ego.

Last week it was so cold in the house that my kombucha scoby that I've had for almost a year got moldy, so we're breaking out the heating pads. My kombucha is better cared for than me.

People of all faiths can and do leverage their faith to do bad shit, and that dynamic deserves to be seen and called out. AND. How you call it out matters. The political environment matters. The issue of whether the faith in question is a violently targeted minority faith matters.

*Who* calls it out also matters. There are plenty of progressive Jews calling Stevens out on her shit, and those folks are much more likely to understand the nuances of conversion as a rite and much better positioned to call her out in a way that doesn't exacerbate the current wave of antisemitism.

It's fun and not at all telling that Haley Stevens has repeatedly attacked Abdul El-Sayed for perceived antisemitism and is more than fine making appearances with Mike Rogers, who has surrounded himself with people who were caught in group chats saying "I love Hitler" and glorifying the Holocaust.

It's my birthday month! I didn't think I'd live to see 25 because of domestic violence, so 30 was a big one for me. 35 is even bigger because of the knee surgery drama. Great and grateful etc.

This is funny. I also started my software development career in 2019 and my code still won't compile if I don't pay attention to individual bracket and parenthesis characters. It's not a matter of being attentive to detail, it's that the IDE throws errors if you don't follow syntax. Telling!

When I started my first full-time job in 2019, coding worked like this: You, the human developer, sit at a computer in an app called an editor, and type out code by hand. You are extremely attentive to detail, down to the individual bracket and parenthesis.

Made sweet potato gnocchi for dinner and it SUCKED. The sauce (dandelion pesto) and scallops I paired with it were great, but damn that recipe sucked. I'm about to create an account on some lady's blog to tell her to go to hell.

Knitting friends: I need a pair of mittens that I can knit in. I'm thinking something that looks like a poorly drawn rabbit vibrator (I'm saying it before you can!). Ideal pattern would have free index and thumb with joined middle through pinky. I knit continental for context.

Two badly drawn mittens that have a space for the pinky through middle fingers with free moving index and thumb.

Begging LinkedIn to make it easier to disconnect from people without viewing their profile. I don't need to know my ex-in-laws are taking it personally that I wished my second husband a happy birthday. Unhinged.

This was about 4 knitting projects before the puppy got into it years ago. A crop top, a shawl, a pair of socks for my late stepdad. I need to untangle it so I can finish the socks for my mom. Send thoughts and prayers.

A big tangled mess of colorful yarn.

Sexual harassment, abuse, rape. Online trolling. Policing women's clothes. Pompous declarations that women aren't intelligent enough to vote. Whatever the fuck Elon Musk is up to. It's all a way to reassert power over women, who make them feel insecure. So no, it's not all closeted gay men.

Misogynists spend a great deal of time trying to figure out how to restore what they see as a "proper" power relationship around sex. It gets elaborate, but also it's always just rape. Like Christians who say wives forgo the right to say not to their husbands. But also...

If you desire someone, you feel it gives them power over you. You want something, and they are the only person who can give it to you. This creates profound shame in men who feel the person with this power, being female, should be subservient in all ways to them. They get angry. And violent.
