given that the campaign was developed by the DRCC based on input from young people and the ham-headed politicians have decided they know better tells you everything you need to know about their real views on childrens' rights, not to mention their right to consent

The distinction being drawn by the Government members is that a hug is non-sexual and so you don't need consent. I simply don't agree and this is a very bad assertion of government policy over children. We had a whole referendum where the rights of children were affirmed www.rte.ie/news/2026/10...

I have been thinking lately (what with the whole Vittorio/Sloss of it all) that men really don't hear rape jokes.. like they hear them and laugh but don't actually connect the joke with an actual living person or actual rape... It's just words.

Hugely disgusted and disappointed with Vittorio Angelone. Not only did he make a cruel and unfunny rape joke about someone actively in the middle of a rape trial, he was so proud of it that he posted it to his own Instagram page

I know a fair few people are starting to research possibly moving from the UK to RoI due to the hateful restrictions being rolled out. This is a really good recourse, diasporasupport.ie/returning-to... While rights are good and transphobia is low, healthcare is very hard to access.

I am watching The Other Bennett Sister and thoroughly enjoying it . The obligatory 'man coming out of water' scene was delightful with not one, but two , bedraggled men coming out of a lake.

I'm mostly over my HR obsession now (ahead of season 2 coming out next year).. but I did pre-order the annotated scripts earlier this year and it just arrived so maybe I'll be changing my weekend plans and just reading it.

Bit of positive news to start the week: the online voter registration system voter.ie is now live nationwide (having previously worked only for Dubliners) - now anyone in the State can register or update their details on the electoral register in a couple of minutes using only their PPS number.

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

We all know the Beeb is transphobic trash. What should horrify you is them using their power as a state broadcaster to silence a Black lesbian while still profiting from her presence. What should horrify you is their blatant ease in altering what she wanted to say
