Most of the remaining prairie loggerheads breed in Saskatchewan. Nature Saskatchewan launched Shrubs for Shrikes in 2003 to protect shrike habitat, monitor population changes, and increase awareness of the shrike. 160,000 acres (64,750 ha) of nesting and foraging habitat conserved so far!
So anyway, shout out to the K-12 folks who support students, especially the underrepresented ones like me. The supportive teachers/principals/staff really do build the foundation for later success. I wish all students got the kind of support those letter writers showed me.

My goodness this was an emotional read. During the 80s and 90s I worked in a day centre for rough sleepers and a hostel for teenagers. I also volunteered at Wintercomfort which features in the book. This was a devastating insight to how peopleโs lives are destroyed before theyโve hardly begun.
