Struck by colleagues' work at this conf re use of computational tools, but still seems they're using texts already available, which are primarily canonical -- bc they are readily available in digital forms #dh tools are cool, but are we making a diff in DH by using them only on canonical materials?

So many ways to analyze the literary annual corpus we're preparing -- I know it takes time to create a clean corpus (and a year for the good metadata creation), but I'm so close to being able to do huge analysis of things like translations, txts in multiple titles, Am-Brit-French comparison #dh

The Longer Way Around a Digital Humanities Project I committed to taking a full year of sabbatical because I knew this project needed more intellectual space than I could give it while managing the day-to-day work of my Director position. My operating method over the last several years has become very good at tackling whatever is immediately in front of me.

At Cal State, the plethora of faculty experts on 22 campuses who work in emerging tech (even in the Humanities) were not invited to the AI Board or the convo to purchase chatgpt license. Admins have openly stated that they want to squash #AI skepticism. No careful rollout or pedagogical support
