My research group is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to study control principles between human-human and human-agent pairs. Ad below. Please retweet!
Excited that this work is finally out! It raises some interesting questions about the basal ganglia and the impact of Parkinson's disease.
Update! This paper was just published at npj parkinson's disease. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
New preprint! 🎉 How can we measure how the nervous system knows, moment to moment, where the body is as it moves? We introduce a continuous tracking paradigm to measure the hidden dynamics of proprioception—revealing it is faster and more precise than vision during movement. tinyurl.com/yf297k53
Tracking the hidden dynamics of proprioception
Every movement unfolds with a simple question: Where is my body? The nervous system answers through proprioception - the sense of limb position (static position sense) and movement (dynamic propriocep...

I’ve officially resigned as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. It used to be a reputable journal, but became a case study in how forced automation destroys academic integrity. 👇
Ok so they are definitely doing some kind dynamic pricing. This is from a different workspace our lab uses. Not sure if it’s the workspace or the filters. But either way, @joinprolific.bsky.social will basically eliminate psychological research from their platform with this nonsense.
Come work with us!
Our Institute, part of Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and Thomas Jefferson University, is hiring for a tenure track faculty position! Applicants should have experience conducting research focused on human translational neuroscience & neurorehabilitation. https://ow.ly/yCBA50Z2eMl
An Aha moment precedes the strategic response to a visuomotor rotation CurrentBiology
An Aha moment precedes the strategic response to a visuomotor rotation
Townsend et al. discover that strategic compensation for a sensorimotor perturbation emerges from an “Aha!” moment, producing a discrete jump to (approximately) the right solution. They demonstrate, through computational modeling, that this offers a better account of participant behavior than gradual error minimization or trial-and-error learning.

📣 Postdoc in Human Neurophysiology & Neurorehab 📣 The Real-Time NeuroRehabilitation Lab at the U of Iowa is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Scholar! Motor control, EEG/TMS, neurorehabilitation, and real-time multimodal methods. 📅 Summer/Fall 2026 📧 sara-hussain@uiowa.edu Please share!
We're hiring a postdoc in the Cognitive-Motor Learning Lab, directed by Dr. Aaron L Wong! If you want to study how people monitor their performance during skilled tool-use actions, & how this error awareness is disrupted after stroke, then this position may be a good fit. https://ow.ly/1h2a50YIaWy
I am very excited to share this new pre-print that we just posted on bioRxiv! We tested individual components of the effort-reward trade-off in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and neurotypical controls and found some surprising results! #neuroskyence #Sensorimotor #Neurorehabilitation

Really excited to get stared on this project! We are also looking for a postdoc to help with this project - the official job ad is coming soon, but please reach out in the meanwhile if interested! You'll get to do some behavioral testing and neuroimaging in people with stroke
Congratulations to Dr. Aaron L Wong and collaborators on the renewal of their NIH grant, "Factors Contributing to Unawareness of Performance Errors After Left Hemisphere Stroke"! 🎉 This study will advance our understanding of limb apraxia and error awareness after #stroke.
🧠 Resting-state fMRI is often treated as the gold standard for studying the brain’s intrinsic organization. But is it actually the best way to estimate functional architecture? We tested this directly. 🧵1/8
Here is the "effective payline" for each institute, estimated (by Claude) as the percentile where one can expect 80% probability of funding from a logistic regression fit. The effective payline has gone from a historic ~12% to 6% in 2025.
NIH FY2025 funding data finally emerges on RePORT drugmonkey.wordpress.com/2026/03/06/n...
Soft money faculty positions are becoming increasingly untenable, and I hope Universities are working on a backup plan
The data is in: the NIH goalposts have shifted. What were once almost certain fundable scores have become coin flips and what used to be likely grants have become aspirational, leading to fewer awards. Another manifestation of how HHS policies have led to fewer awards and less science.
IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT NIH is seeking input for the NIH-wide Strategic Plan. Open to everyone but Registration is Required! Your chance to listen and get your 2 or more cents in. grants.nih.gov/news-events/...
