I had such severe imposter syndrome starting out this week. I have since received extremely kind messages from some of the senior scholars who shaped my work. My god did I need that kindness. Thank you to the generous senior scholars everywhere. Y’all mean more than you know.

I forgot to defrost something for dinner tonight. So after I left my office, i popped into one of the restaurants off campus for a quick bite. Its trivia night. An older lady came over to me and recruited me for her team. Then she recruited another couple who came in. And we placed 2nd!

In 1974, Cornell lecturer Lin Farley began recognizing a pattern in the experiences women shared in her Women and Work course: women were being pushed out of jobs by men’s sexual behavior. Farley coined the term, “sexual harassment.”

Oh! I got an email from the AHN about PARES, because I asked if they could send me an image of a file there during the outage, and they said PARES should all be fixed now or in the near future because they did a big upgrade. So yay for being able to research from a distance again!

While we’re talking about campus sexual violence, I want to revisit the recent history of a topic where we have seen some of the biggest backslides: Expelling rapists from school.

Literally anything my guy. A fart noise. The jerkoff motion and telling the guy to get a hobby that’s not bothering women. Ask her a question that gets her out of the room. “That’s gross” “who raised you” “say that again into my phone I’m on my way to HR anyway”. Communicate WE DON’T DO THAT HERE

It’s kind of exhausting when there’s studies being like when women speak up, no matter how, the issue is dismissed and the women are fired but a man says “hey that’s gross” and entire companies change almost immediately And men go: but how can *I* help it’s hard to speak up what do I even say :(
