a lot of people want to believe that right-wing beliefs are rooted in some legitimate material grievance. that makes it easier to imagine that if we simply solved the material problem, they’d deradicalize. but they won’t, because they aren’t disillusioned, they’re just morons.

If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.

The US is a fully-formed Failed State. Full Stop. There is no easy remediation at this point. Balkanization is likely the future, and I am bittersweet with this prospect.
And I have booked my vaccine appointment for both Flu and COVID! Damn straight, been fully vaxxed and proud of it. No stopping now!
