this is wrong, because the right to vote comes from living in a democracy, not from paying taxes. people who do not pay taxes are allowed to vote and plenty of people who do pay taxes cannot
Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social · 14h agoStudents should vote where they - or their parents - pay taxes. I use to ask Dartmouth students: "Who has a car?" Some hands go up. "Who registers their car in New Hampshire." The hands go down. "Vote where you registered your car."

Ignore the title: what Hanlon is saying here is that real authoritarian censorship has exposed the hollowness of last decade's complaints about "woke censorship." This is true. It's so obvious, in fact, that I'm not going to spend > 10 seconds arguing with shills like Douthat and Harper about it.

Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

DSA members (and I am one) should be ashamed of the organization's continued hostility to Ukraine, and organize and vote for chapter leadership and convention delegates who pursue an actually emancipatory internationalism. Ukraine has a right to defend itself and we have an obligation to help.
