Universal healthcare is a wildly popular centrist position. It is also a pro business position as it boosts labor market dynamism and removes what for most firms is a non core operation and cost. Asking how it will be paid for in a system as rife w/ inefficiencies as the US sort of misses the point

The problem is that as we're seeing with the Strait of Hormuz, "the USA forfeits its global ambitions" does not lead to a new age of peace and sunshine, but to global recession and instability. The Strait of Hormuz is not the only load-bearing instance of US power backstopping modern economies.

I think the traditional answer is actually "forfeit your global ambitions because you can't afford them and voters won't make the sacrifices necessary to restore them," unfortunately

"Saying that AI data center debt issuance is similar to Collateralized Debt Obligations because both involve creating a Special Purpose Vehicle is like saying borrowing ten dollars from a friend is like promising a guy 100,000 dollars if he kills your wife. Hey, they’re both oral contracts!"

*Sigh* No Ed Zitron, AI bond issuance is not AI’s "Subprime Mortgage Crisis”

EDITORIAL NOTE: Given the importance of this issue, and in a desire to be fair when writing such a critical piece, I sent a draft of this article to Ed Zitron to review and give his response to. I've ...
