LLM's are helpful because they're trained on years of high quality educational material and forums where people helped each other. People aren't visiting forums or paying for educational content anymore because of LLM's. The well isn't going to magically fill itself in perpetuity.

AI Corruption
Corruption is by definition behavior (often illegal) where someone gets benefits for disregarding their duties. It is also attached to the general concepts of betrayal, decay, rot, and departure from what is pure, simple, or correct.

"Something remarkable happened in April. For the first time in history, wind and solar generated more electricity than gas across the entire planet. Not in a country. Not in a region. Globally." Tons of great news here from Danny Kennedy (via @billmckibben.bsky.social's newsletter, which rules).

A take I see often online is that it doesn't matter if code is "clean" - readable, simple, decoupled, easy & fast to test - as long as it works. They're missing the point. Code that's hard to understand, complex, tightly-coupled and hard/slow to test is very likely to break. There's no tradeoff.

Don't let Ai fatigue lead to complicity
If you're an academic and are worried about AI and feel powerless, don't let it get to you. It's actually what they want. They want us to burn out and give up. You can turn off the internet and chill. I promise. All you need to do is stay strong, with breaks of course. From an email I sent an ally:
Incredible how many slopfondlers openly say stuff like "Do you expect me to do [tedious thing I should've automated or designed around already] by hand??" when defending their toy.
Solidarity with these students who want no part in this experiment: "A small but vocal minority of Estonian students say they refuse to use AI on moral grounds, citing issues such as water consumption by data centers or political complaints about U.S. tech companies, teachers say.”

AI is not and cannot be a true intelligence because it has no intention, it has no motivation. It is a machine that doesn't work particularly well. Always remember that.
ai also does not “make mistakes” because it has no intention. It is a probability machine, not a person who has erred
Brillant, and what I've been saying since vibecoding emerged: "From the bottom: no juniors entering the pipeline, so no new seniors. From the top: existing seniors slowly losing the depth that made them senior. The pipeline is collapsing from both ends simultaneously." (via @spinscale.bsky.social)

This instructor did what so many of us are doing: adapt. The grief is not because we can't adapt or because we "fear technology" or because we are "in denial." It is because we have had the chance to have this amazing experience of helping/watching students figure out what they think and value that.
