Always had Sheeran down as a gifted songwriter who is trying real hard to keep his public persona apolitical - but this isn't neutrality. It's a political stance as unequivocal as Macklemore's, except Ed doesn't appear to have the guts to articulate it out loud.

I 100% guarantee you this did not happen and that the boys she’s talking about - she later clarified they were “Pakistani” - do not exist. And yet, I can also assure you Eve is *absolutely convinced* she saw this.

Listen, I agree there’s loads of good signs re Burnham, but taking a firm pro-immigration stance should be a basic requirement for an ostensibly progressive politician. And sorry for being biased here as an immigrant myself. Mahmood made me want to leave the UK and keeping her is incredibly hurtful.

They’ve not done anything wrong by wanting their existence recognised, supported, and celebrated. The transformation of their existence into “an issue” is evil.

Mainstream politicos use "genuine concerns" and "legitimate concerns" interchangeably. They aren't. "Genuine concern" = we believe people are sincerely anxious or angry. "Legitimate concern" = we signal we think being discomfited by a neighbour's skin colour is ok. Sure we want to signal the latter?
A few quick notes & questions from Belfast: 1. Community response was astounding. 370+ ppl rescued, rehoused, fed, clothed, reassured. Some in homes. Some in offices of grassroots orgs - Loyalist and Republican both, 2. Houses will very likely burn this summer in England too. Are we ready?
We keep babyifying ever older people (16 and 17 year olds getting tech curfews, the woo-woo stuff around sentencing under-25s). Think it’s an underappreciated (and mostly bad) consequence of being an ageing democracy:

Gotta say, it's all good (and right) to make fun of grifters saluting loyalist Belfast rioters as Irish patriots, but calling them "settlers" and comparing Belfast to West Bank is just as stupid, and as dangerous. Probably more so, given the live-wire sectarianism it invokes.
