I can’t believe we’re still having a debate about whether there’s a trade off between job creation and measures to green the economy. There isn’t. The evidence was clear years ago - a green economy creates far more jobs than the fossil fuel economy it replaces. Come on Labour, catch up …

5 Aug ‘51 A lot of people have a lot of trouble with lilies. I have myself. I try. I fail. I despair. Then I try again. Only last week did it occur to me to go and ask for advice from a famous grower of lilies in my neighbourhood, which was the obvious and sensible thing to do.

I've just finished reading Project Hail Mary to Dad. For the next book, I was after another uplifting novel based on some solid science, & heard on a podcast or the radio that Kim Stanley Robinson's books were good. So I've just read the first few chapters of 'Ministry for the Future' to him

This. Run them side by side with images of the the wildfires across the UK. The dead fields. Farmers having to dip into their winter feeds in the middle of summer. A running tally of excess deaths due to heat.

While fires rage in large parts of Europe incl UK, farmers face crop failure and livestock loss, every RefUK or Tory politician on the news must be challenged on their "let's do away with costly net zero nonsense" stance, side-by-side with live images of the cost of inaction. Expose the charlatans.
