My deepest darkest author desire? To have Billy Zane blurb one of my books so that my entire marketing plan is simply this GIF.
I’ll be at @laworldcon.bsky.social at the end of August; here’s where you can catch me, including a live performance of my nerdy game show Inconceivable!
Both my parents are (now retired) librarians so roughly 90 percent of my childhood was spent in libraries. I still get a little thrill whenever I see my books there.
Requesting your library acquire copies of a book is one of the best ways to uplift the authors you love.

If you want to read a book and your library doesn’t have it, it is truly a massive favor to an author to request that the library acquire it. It really and truly is

I'm slightly addicted to tiny e-readers now. Here's my review of Xteink's X3, the little reader so small it can stick to the back of your phone. I love it, but I fear it may be too beautiful to live. sixcolors.com/post/2026/07...
Review: Xteink X3 is the little e-reader the world’s not quite ready for
The market for small e-readers has been booming lately. Earlier this year, Jason took a look at the Xteink X4, a pint-sized reading device that was about as light and small as they come. But those…

My take on this "Apple Upgrade Program" report from Bloomberg. Not great, Bob!
Apple’s reported upgrade program revamp could be a big downgrade
Hey, you. Yeah, you. You look like the kind of person who likes a good deal. Well, until Friday, you can pre-order my upcoming sci-fi heist caper, ETERNITY'S TOMB for 25% off at Waterstones. Just use code SUMMER26. www.waterstones.com/book/eternit...
This is my new favorite instance of book marketing spam. Ah, yes, the line that really stuck with you is THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK.
If you’re wondering what this fall’s iOS update is going to bring, my preview of the public beta released today is now up at @sixcolors.com. sixcolors.com/post/2026/07...
First Look: iOS 27 Public Beta
By now you've probably heard the promise of iOS 27: it's a Snow Leopard-like year where Apple spent a lot of time not on big marquee features, but on smaller fixes and enhancements throughout the o…

Today (July 7) is publication day for my new book. I’m incredibly proud of This Machine Kills Billionaires. Available now in all formats, I can’t wait for you to read it. If you’re after dark, thoughtful, propulsive, but above all: deeply human science fiction, look no further.
Yep, two of my older books aren’t currently available because I’m in the process of getting my rights back. Details here: dmoren.com/2026/05/26/a...

@dmoren.com I was just about to order some of your books for vacation this week and found that The Aleph Extraction and The Nova Incident aren't currently available for Kindle. I feel like I almost bought them as a set before, so I think this is new?
Turned in copy edits on my latest book this week so I should probably remind people I have a book coming out later this year. It’s called ETERNITY’S TOMB and it answers the question we’ve all asked ourselves: what if we were robbing a space tomb heading for a black hole?! dmoren.com/writing/eter...
I've a surprise new release coming out, and I'm not mucking around: you can pre-order now, and own it in a couple of weeks (July 7) This Machine Kills Billionaires features the thrilling, multi-award-winning novella, 'The Hidden God', a triptych of bonus short stories, & more.
I've loved Dave's stuff in the past but here he's conflating facts and issues, and just plain stealing a base in the title alone. If Apple had never introduced Apple Intelligence at all, these price hikes would have been just as high because it's industry-wide demand for RAM and SSDs.
Apple is passing the cost of “Apple Intelligence” onto its customers.

It's also nice when I read something I wrote and it makes me laugh. What else is the point if not to amuse myself?!
The fascinating thing about doing an editing pass on a novel is that I remember the writing of parts that were absolute teeth-pulling, like an hour to wring out 500 words that you're pretty sure are garbage, and then you read it in like a minute and "Oh, yeah, that's fine." What a weird fucking job.
