When it comes to nostalgia, no one out-pizzas this Hut in southwest Pennsylvania. 🍕 Locals celebrate the location's preserved retro appearance. @teppercmu.bsky.social's Jeff Galak explains how emotional responses impact consumer behavior, and the power of nostalgia. @us.theconversation.com:

Folks I won’t tell you not to feel your feelings, but this is rage bait. He’s talking about expanding beyond politics into things like live sports.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.
Last week, a Union County woman noticed strange hornets snooping around her hummingbird feeder and called the state.

After creeping north for three years, the yellow-legged hornet has arrived. Beekeepers are gearing up for a fight.

Why do youth sports organizations frequently end up in drama? Often, it's because there's no way for the organization administrators to hear the hard things. We built a platform that allows leadership to learn the things they NEED to know. From @wademinter.com www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

"So, hey, we're out here if you want to talk. We'll be happy to give you our perspective to maybe help with the whiplash you must be feeling. If you need us we're the ones pining for John Forslund while still tearing up over the pictures of the players celebrating a Stanley Cup win." Great piece.
As promised, a post inspired a post. It’s inception post! I’m sure this is something Joe will be hitting on today but wanted this out there with my spin, www.canescountry.com/2010-11-caro...

"On Monday, the Red Cross declared a national blood crisis for the second time ever in its history."
#EventsDearBoy 11. CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (1985, DC) There are a lot of threads on DC Reddit about "does Crisis hold up" and for the olds it's one of the greatest works in the medium but for the youngs it's more like an ancient illuminated manuscript full of incredible drawings of weird snails
#EventsDearBoy 12. NO MAN'S LAND (1999, DC) *Tammy Wynette voice* "All bound for No Man's Land..." - this Bat-monster gets the award for the highest placing of anything I hadn't read at all before. It just seemed too huge: the year-long central plank in a saga of catastrophe and rebuilding
As a former Athletic writer, I strongly believe the pivot point was the pandemic. Before 2020, I do think the company goal really was to have exceptional local coverage everywhere. It was a point of pride that we had someone covering every team in the 4 major North American sports leagues.
The Athletic's slow-motion exodus from local coverage obviously directly contradicts the original stated purpose of the publication, and is exacerbating the problems that were created when they initially vacuumed up so much of the local talent
@corylav.bsky.social naming Haula as #LetsGoCanes villain is plausible, but I think it's time for Canes fans to let it go. He apparently was bad for the locker room and showed his posterior after the trade, but he hasn't been relevant for years and DID have some family tragedy around that time.
From the Athletic today: Which NHL player is the biggest on-ice villain in every team’s franchise history? I realize the MR96 saga has played itself out, but still -- is there another player whose jersey was treated like this? (gift link: www.nytimes.com/athletic/745...

honestly whatever one's opinion of Baron Lloyd-Webber I think we can agree that an Andrew Lloyd Webber Dr. Who musical i something we all deserve
I have zero proof that Andrew Lloyd Webber ever watched a single second of Doctor Who. But man, with the way these anthropomorphic bee guys from an early episode of the BBC series look, sound, and act, I could swear they were a precursor to the musical felines from CATS.
I held on for a lot longer out of inertia, until Jeff Loeb came on and a lot of post-Crisis elements started being undone. When I realized I wasn't reading "the same story" anymore that was my jump-off.
One of my college roommates (who's here on Bsky but I won't out), quite bored of mainstream superheroics, was surprisedly engrossed in my copies of this run, which improved all the way through Reign of the Supermen. Once the mysteries resolved and status quo returned, he wisely bailed.
#EventsDearBoy 20. DEATH OF SUPERMAN / FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND / RETURN OF SUPERMAN (1992, DC) The most famous event ever (in print) and the spiritual peak of the speculator boom, SUPERMAN #75 is also not a very good comic - the all-splash page conceit exaggerates Dan Jurgens' tendency to the static
