i think the thing that has yet to break through beltway commentators and the green room set is that el-sayed's position is *mainstream*. it is arguably the view of the *median voter*.
this is remarkable
we literally waterboarded people and they tried to pass a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage its the same picture
I'm going to disagree here--Bush was bad, yes, cruelty and bigotry, but Trump in his second term has been full-blown Temu Hitler. Trump was exponentially worse than Bush. They are not equivalent.

Right, the pundits want to draw the usual false equivalence between Trump's politically-motivated prosecutions that tried to invent crimes out of thin air and Democrats finally applying longstanding laws to the administration's blatant crimes. Those are not the same thing, at all.
All this talk of "getting even" or payback or whatever. It's not "getting even". It's enforcing the law. Say that. Correct that. Don't fall into that trap. There's absolutely no reason to.
Jokes aside, Bluesky effectively replaced the blogosphere of 2002-2009 which drove the blue wave of 2006 and election of Barack Obama in 2008. Politically homogeneous social media is GOOD for organizing and generating enthusiasm. We need to protect it this time.
In the end, the "Joe Rogan of the Left" was the friends we made on BlueSky along the way...

I genuinely don't think the GOP understands that to everyone under 40 (and to a whole bunch of people over that age), the entire Republican brand is "crooks and creeps"
Court reform should very much be on the agenda for Democrats this term. As I noted in this piece, a lot of Democrats have drawn the wrong lessons from the history of FDR's court-packing plan.
Unpacking the Court
In recent months, the breathtaking radicalism and brazen corruption of the current Supreme Court has reignited the longstanding debate over reforming the Court by expanding the number of Justices.

Nuke the filibuster. Bare minimum for the new Senate leadership. Absolutely no reason to keep it if your likely to hold a majority until 2030

The president is a serial rapist and likely child trafficker and I don’t think it’s “getting even” to make addressing that fact the business of congress
@adamschiff.com @padilla.senate.gov I'm writing today to let you know that I believe Chuck Schumer is the wrong leader to move our nation forward in the Senate. His judgement in this race in his support of Janet Mills and providing no support to Angie Dixon was flawed and disqualifying.
the more i think about vance's immediate "uh don't blame me it was the war that i definitely opposed" move the more i think the thing to hang on him is that he is craven and pathetic. like a henchman that switches sides at the first sign of trouble.
I am so fucking tired of "seeking justice" being framed as "getting even." Arresting and/or impeaching people who are legitimately guilty of actual crimes is not revenge. It is justice. Innocent people should be released from detention and guilty people should be in prison. Again, that is JUSTICE.
the equivalent of trump losing texas in a midterm would be clinton/obama/biden losing california
Everyone needs to apologize to @jamellebouie.net for giving him a hard time about saying the election would proceed normally
It’s time to remember that enforcing consequence for corruption, prosecuting authoritarians, and purging white supremacists, is what countries must do if they want to regain health, and anyone who treats such acts as unhealthy, dangerous, or uncivil has no interest in health, safety, or civility.
100%. Now is not the time for one-way honoring of norms. Now is the time to use the enemy's infrastructure for your logistics.
Gina Hinjosa call Abigail Spanberger and get some CIA advice on how to ruthlessly right size your Board of Trustees and Board of Regents at the UT system.
The only way I want Dems to “reach across the aisle” is to hand out subpoenas
I really hope that Hinjosa is able to hire Mamdami-level staffers for her administration.

The absolute shellacking Republicans are taking makes the prior two years of capitulation by so many powerful people and organizations look even more pathetic
Correct. Job #1 over the next two years is blame, blame, blame. Everything is the fault of Trump, his Cabinet, and Republicans. This is (1) true; (2) will continue to be true; and (3) must be reiterated and reinforced at every opportunity. None of this "work with" nonsense. Don't share his blame.
It now seems clear the US public in 2024 did not know what Trump actually stood for. They found out. And hate Trumpism. A major challenge over the next two years will be to keep the toxic Trump agenda front and center.
