Rare red-footed falcon spotted in Aberlady
A rare red-footed falcon has been snapped just outside of Edinburgh in Aberlady by a local photographer. Photographer Mark Rielly captured the falcon which has a "near threatened" status on the IUCN red list of threatened species list. The bird is usually only found in Estonia, Slovakia and Hungary with sightings also seen in north-west China. The falcons migrate to south of Africa in the winter. Sightings of the species in the United Kingdom are reported annually but are rarely photographed.
