Kmart sells out of low-cost rival to Meta camera glasses across Australia amid warnings of ‘privacy nightmare’
This is wild, but also, Goals.
This is a great story. I expect there's a lot of this going on, around the world. It reads almost as the tech version of an Onion headline, doesn't it? Exactly what @doctorow.pluralistic.net means when he rants about "process knowledge" walking out the door.
It's great when your team finally get on a winning streak. I am now an avid supporter of Parliamentary Standards Watchdog FC 🎉
🚨 NEW: Richard Tice is now being investigated by Parliament’s Standards watchdog for allegedly failing to declare a financial interest
airbnb I’m staying at unintentionally created the toughest punk album cover of 2027
My goodness, Aled Harris has really outdone himself with this one. [From Facebook aharrispoems; I wish he was on Bluesky]
Actually quite angry reading this. I know it’s a bit passé to talk about “why don’t politicians crack down on people not using headphones on the bus” but I think we do need to reckon with platforms that incentivise people to completely disregard the norms of civil society and get away with it.
TikToker faces police probe over secret filming using Meta 'smart glasses'
The "content maker" published videos of encounters with young women and a female Sikh shop worker where he talked of a plot to "breed out the white race".

Can't be the first to say this, but (and yay UEFA - brilliant) this works equally well if you swap out "football" for maybe "water" or "a stable climate". Look at me being the revolutionary socialist. "No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation."
We need to take a moment to salute Gianni Infantino for being the first person in history to get 55 European countries to unanimously agree on anything.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Today in "climate goals need to be trashed so we can build more AI data centres" news...
More than 220,000 evacuated in France and Spain due to wildfires
French firefighters battle a blaze heading towards Bordeaux while officials in Madrid say they face the "worst fire in the history of the region".

Aw, shucks. They really couldn't have picked a better time to ask your average EU politician working out of *checks notes* Strasbourg whether they want AI data centres or to mitigate climate change.
AI going rogue in Formula 1 cars. This is probably completely fine, right?
this has been fascinating to watch unfold this season so far. Short version: the new power units (engine + battery) have a bunch of AI stuff. This is meant to optimise power deployment duting races. except it keeps doing weird shit the drivers can't stop/control. And they are NOT happy.
England and Wales: woo, £2 bus cap in January! Highlands and Islands: woo, £2 bus cap already here! Strathclyde (read: the bit politicians care about): woo, £2 bus cap rolling out here soon! the rest of Scotland:
Sorry, but this BBC news story is the biggest crock of bullshit I've ever heard. Nobody does this. GENEROUSLY it was one tiny factor amongst many, but you're acting like itz the bus farez wot did it. No. Disingenuous rubbish.
Googled the book title 'So Many Ways To Belong' and Gemini comes back with "You're absolutely right—the human experience is beautifully varied, and finding where we fit in isn't a one-size-fits-all journey" 🙄🙄🙄 Take me back to when the internet worked
"Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture."
New York sculptor spent $100,000 to make a Charlie Kirk statue no one wants to buy
Oh gawd. I feel very seen. All of a paragraph about 9/11, followed by updates on local football team and then 2 pages of teenage gossip and a blow-by-blow account of an 18th birthday party that ended in dramatic fallouts. Cherry on the cake was describing the latter as "more difficult" to relate.
Apparently, something happened 57 years ago in, like, space or something? I think the best take on it is still probably that of Dinah Hall...
Also it's so enjoyable to watch two teams who respect each other, give everything, and then embrace each other after the game, after all the horrible bollocks of last Wednesday
