I can't find a source for this off-hand, but in terms of his bona fides, I believe he's done E>J translation work professionally and he's perfectly conversant IIRC, so I'm personally not worried about AI usage, especially since it's meant to be reference material for a proper J>E translation later.

Now that volume 7 is officially out— I've taken over translation work on Always a Catch!, AKA that one romance fantasy series with the girl with the knuckle duster hairclip. I hope the readers enjoy the latest volume! And for those unfamiliar, there's an anime this season on Crunchyroll!

I have many thoughts about it, but I believe his statement was oversimplifying. EN and JP both have tools in their linguistic toolkits that the other language doesn't. East Asian languages' plethora of 1st and 2nd-person pronouns is just one example of this among many. But... 🧵
