Marco Rubio can no more dismantle the International Criminal Court than a foreign national court. Both courts could have jurisdiction over US citizens in certain circumstances including over international crimes (eg genocide) attracting universal jurisdiction. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Haven't they demonstrated pretty definitively over the last 3 months they can't protect ships in the Straight? Also, isn't this 10x the rate Iran charges to actually allow safe passage? This falls firmly into the 'whatever, grandpa' category

Some notes now that I’ve seen the transcript of the hearing, thanks to @lizdye.bsky.social . First: the government dismissed the felony count in an effort to convince the judge not to make them produce full transcripts, knowing they showed serious misconduct.

The UKHE sector needs ofc government intervention asap. But we also need to find a way to end the professionalisation of university upper management. We need to end the insulation of upper management from the rest of colleagues. We need to end revolving doors for VCs between institutions.

So a student was struggling to get a copy of Hart's Concept of Law. Currently almost none second hand anywhere and new is $100 paperback/ $200+ hard cover. Like wtf?!? Can't get any copy in Oz under $80 Apparently all Law goes through straight of hormuz

As an aside, there are two main strands of British comedy. The first, the surrealist one, is very Irish; it all stems from Spike Milligan and the Goon Show. The second, which is very English, is built around the agony of the embarrassing situation that can’t be escaped; Fawlty Towers, The Office.
