In the early 1990s, only about 1,300 manatees remained in Florida’s waters. Today, their population has grown to more than six times that – all thanks to laws like the Endangered Species Act and people taking action to protect them. 💙 Learn more: https://oceana.ly/440kWh7

Here is some fun news! This fancy lady spider with a shiny mirrorball for a booty is a newly described species as of yesterday! I heard from the scientist who described her and my photos will be running in a local paper in Ecuador! (Chrysometa chuchaqui) Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve #invert

A spider with translucent legs, red eyes, and an abdomen that looks like a mirror ball. She is standing on a mossy leaf.

Fantastic to see the #CitizenScience results out on UK rivers… wholly recommend taking part- you can express early interest for the September blitz!

It happened in a blink of an eye, but this encounter with a family of river otters cruising the creek behind the resort on Hecla Island like a team of Navy Seals was pretty amazing. My camera settings weren't ready for this evening moment, but I managed to capture a fraction of the experience. 🌿🦊

Two river otters poke their heads up through murky water and look balefully at the photographer. Watching four river otter swimming in a line through a murky creek at sunset. Their heads are just visible above the water.
