SWHR Statement on HHS Decision to Restore Women's Health Initiative Funding - Society for Women's Health Research
SWHR is delighted to hear that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has made the decision to restore funding for the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Regional Center contracts.

I don't get how anyone can possibly be okay with ending the WHI. This study has accrued decades of data from 42000 women and it is still going. It helps to address critical research gaps that have been allowed to go unfilled because of durable misogyny and provides invaluable insight into aging.
NIH cancels its first and largest study centered on women

Things are tough. So relieving the joyful parts of prof life: This morning I remembered the time I was teaching metabolism 101, and posed the question, "What are the three main dietary energy sources?", and was met with a very serious "Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner?".

Synergistic reduction in interfacial flexibility of TREM2R47H and ApoE4 may underlie AD pathology
BACKGROUND The strongest genetic drivers of late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) are apolipoprotein E4 (ApoE4) and TREM2R47H. Despite their critical roles, the mechanisms underlying their interaction.....

Dear #RFK JR, "Riboflavin" is Vitamin B2. While I agree foods contain many unnecessary ingredients in the united states, please consider consulting a scientist to avoid spreading misinformation.
More than ever we need to talk about the importance of our "basic research" in public and political forums. Kudos to #AnnaliseSturno and @neurohassell.bsky.social for getting out there and sharing their work on fructose metabolism and Alzheimers Disease at #Denver #Capitol

I have confirmation from several sources now that all T32s, many F30s and F31s, and most or all Center awards (P30, P50) have been terminated at Columbia. This is quite damaging to research and to individuals. This is pure terrorism and cannot be legal. But litigation will take time...
