My 82 year old mother got scammed out of $650 by some guy. I only know about it because I have access to her bank acct and I saw the $500 & $150 charges at Safeway and asked. She won't tell me about it in any detail because she's embarrassed. I already worry about her as a constant background hum.

Sometimes I think about how different my previous and current careers are: federally-funded research scientist using large data sets to model ecosystems, to school bus driver. Computer stuff all day to haven't opened my laptop in months. Occasionally, I miss a big ol' juicy dataset, but not often.

School bus driving not the most technologically advanced job. I just wish they could figure out a way for me to electronically sign my timesheet rather than have me have to show up at the bus barn to sign.
