I want to talk about being a software engineering manager in a world where AI is changing everything all at once. First, change is hard on humans. Even good change is stressful. People are built for survival, which means: if you aren’t dying, keep doing whatever already “works”

I live in Boston with my kids. I help make Android nice. I don't speak for my employer. Visuals not final.

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.
started playing PEAK by @aggrocrabgames.bsky.social and all I can think about is the genius of the everything-meter

I made a long, long comic about AI and my toddler. It's a repudiation of techno-solipsism and it’s in The New Yorker. Is my toddler a stochastic parrot?
Too bad the star system for #android14 launch day only has one planet.
doing numbers on bluesky (20+ likes) feels like making all my buddies at the bar laugh while doing numbers on twitter feels like accidentally alerting The Predator to my location
I have a website. For years I kept a blog there and then stopped due to social media posting and also game dev making me more boring. Now I'm pretty sure I'd never be able to draw eyes to a site. In a lot of ways the internet actually is worse now than it was a while back.
I guess, who among us hasn't gotten all the way to the party and then said "nah I'm not feelin it" and turned around
OK I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the ease of setting up a vanity profile domain on bsky
