As somebody who went to business school, I think a big part of the disconnect between economists and the public on the state of the economy in the US is the failure of most indices to capture the increase in the price of goods that make up higher percentages of expenses for lower-income people.

The Democratic Party in Alaska is the largest and most significant political organization in the state for recruiting, supporting, and electing progressive candidates. Could it be better? Definitely. But I believe at this point it makes more sense to remain an AKDem and advocate for change...

I think I’m not going to be a registered Democrat anymore. This doesn’t represent any change in my personal politics, it’s partially strategic and partially a vote of no confidence in my state party’s leadership. Shall I be an independent now?

I got selected for a one-day Pokemon World Championships pass. Worlds are in San Francisco. I might go. I’ve never been to San Francisco before, the part of my family that’s around there lives ~6 hours north.

hi, internet! I have a request for y'all: if you see the MLB "level the playing field" ad anywhere, record it, send it to me, and note where you saw it (MLB tv, youtube, etc). I am trying to see how many variations there are. signal: jenramose.23 jramoseisen at gmail

I kinda think if the giants trade Heliot Ramos I’m never coming back. I still haven’t watched a pitch, now it’s been almost a month. It’s not even a judgment on what I think the giants should do, he’s just the last player I really care about left.

Birthright citizenship is written in the constitution in plain English. It’s not complicated, it’s not unclear, it doesn’t require divination. Any Supreme Court justice who says otherwise is a fraud. This isn’t a partisan statement.

Part of playing ball is wearing the team’s uniform, which is why you have patches for whatever stupid jersey sponsor the giants have selected this season. Interesting that I didn’t approve of Waymo but didn’t judge the giants players for wearing that patch…

“Just play ball, that’s all I want to do.” JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker broke their silence after the controversy behind their Giants’ “Pride Night” hat protests

I spent much of last week in a room with a bunch of Christians who are explicitly LGBTQ+-affirming, who acknowledge the complexity of reaching out to communities that have been so harmed by Christians, and who do their best to make it happen anyway.

I was sticking around with the giants being this bad but the pride night thing checked me out IMMEDIATELY. I haven’t even thought about turning on a game since then, and I used to schedule my life around the giants schedule.
