David Eby talks about how difficult it was to govern when the BC Conservatives kept trying to force a #bcelxn 13 times they tried, & were utterly ruthless ..taking advantage when BC NDP MLAs were ill, or just having given birth I don't blame Eby one bit for calling the election #Surrey #Vancouver

For people still debating how to vote, and confused about why Eby called an early election, this video is worth a watch: www.threads.com/@mourrej/pos...

Vote as you must but it's extremely scary and exhausting for 2SLGBTQIA+ people anytime Conservatives get near power.

Queer organizations SAGAH and @queermomentum.ca are warning voters about anti-trans rhetoric and voting history from the B.C. Conservatives. And, uh, they've compiled a pretty concerning list of things the party leader and members have been up to. Today for @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/10...

Notable LGBTQ2S+ bits from the B.C. Conservative platform: Repealing SOGI is expected. But also note the language around parental rights and "access to curriculum materials, appropriate notification and opt-out rights" ... that nods towards likely something similar to what we've seen in Alberta.

My @thetyee.ca piece today looks at a complaint people in or paying attention to public education hear often: there's too many senior administrators, & they make too much money. So I decided to take a look at the Vancouver School Board. thetyee.ca/News/2026/05... 1/🧵

Over a decade ago, this dedicated PAC parent made childcare happen in our East Van school through a partnership with the neighbouring community centre. Now she's running for VSB trustee. Help me support this highly qualified @onecityvan.bsky.social candidate if you're voting this week. #vanpoli

Districts across #bced are slashing budgets for the 2026/2027 school year in response to the province not providing increases to funding rates - not even matching inflation. For anyone in media keeping track, here are cuts that will likely be approved this week by VSB (Wed. PM):

At least 39 teachers
Five Vice Principals
Three Student Support Workers (SSB level)
Two District teaching staff positions
Two District learning staff positions
Teaching time equivalent to 2.5 positions for curriculum and assessment implementation in secondary schools
Two District Principals; and
1.5 ‘Other’Professional’ positions

Finally! It's good this was finally approved, but...wow. What an indictment of our planning system that this took so long, and ended up being such a struggle to approve. Can you believe that NIMBYs fought against a rezoning for a SCHOOL? Sheesh.

PSA to #bikeYVR - Traffic calming measures near Adanac overpass went in this weekend (between Renfrew and the overpass). Monday traffic will be chaos as people figure it all out and possibly re-route onto Adanac in the short term.

“Exclusion happens when systems fall apart and fail to adapt,” she said. “This isn’t an issue with teachers, with education assistants, with kids’ disabilities themselves. Those are all symptoms of a much bigger system that needs an overhaul.” #bced

Every child in B.C. has the right to an education. But without adequate support for kids w/ disabilities & diverse abilities, & adequate training for educators to deliver an inclusive education, that right is at risk for all kids. My @thetyee.ca piece today thetyee.ca/News/2025/12...

Students are forced to miss school. EAs face stress and injuries. More training and outside help may be the answer.
