The Visions concept is one of the coolest things anyone has done with a major IP like Star wars. Giving a bunch of animation houses the freedom to create their own entirely unique spin is something I didn't expect out of Disney.

THE SAMURAI AND THE PRISONER is totally entrancing btw. The sparse, foley-rich castle is a remarkable feat of vision; I have never seen a jidaigeki with such eerie, languid combat and lively dramaturgy. K. Kurosawa makes such delicate, intricate films seem effortless.
A messy yet ultimately winning comedic thriller of sorts, Gregg Araki’s I WANT YOUR SEX sees Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman fully committing and having a ball. Surprise! A new film from Claire Denis is coming out a week from now. It's THE FENCE and, while it's not her best, it still deserves better than just being dropped suddenly in theaters out of nowhere. It’s cinema as a reckoning that grabbed me. Made the case for it below in my review out of TIFF 📽️
