There’s a fund set up to help Warm Springs recover from the Bench Fire, if you have scratch to donate. They are accepting money, non perishable food, and bottled water. Water resources are a long-running issue for the tribes (see: Chuúsh Fund via Seeding Justice), so this is especially urgent.

The Bench Fire tore through the Warms Springs Reservation, burning at least six homes and forcing hundreds to evacuate as roads closed and the air filled with thick smoke. The fire is now about one-third contained, but it will likely take years for the tribe to recover from the disaster.

Just finished this collection of essays by @edithmirante.bsky.social. It’s stunning. The title Mithuns are a friendly, white-socked cattle of south Asia, and Edith loves them. The intro essay is about meeting them, but, characteristically, Edith barely mentions her own drone-running for rebels… 1/4
