Data centers don’t just magically appear. Texas didn’t become the data center capital by accident. They go where politicians offer billion-dollar tax breaks, cheap power, weak regulations, and a giant welcome mat. If we’re serious about fighting these projects, follow the incentives.

In Canada's far north, some fret Carney's military plan overlooks everyday needs
In a snow-covered Canadian hamlet on the tip of the Arctic Ocean, there are two grocery stores, one sports arena and no doctors - a visit to one usually involves at least a two-hour plane ride south.

Avi Lewis: "We have shoved Canada Post so far into the market mindset that every few months we have a national conversation about why isn't Canada Post making money. Does the ambulance service make money? Do the police services make money? We're talking about a fundamental public service."

What the Hell Is Wrong With Carla Beck?
Carla Beck’s public letter to Avi Lewis is a self‑inflicted wound that exposes how confused she is about her relationship with her own party — and how that ambiguity is failing Saskatchewan voters.
open.substack.com
Carla seems to think the only way she can get elected in 2029, when our 1.5° #carbonbudget is utterly exhausted, and EVs are cheaper to own and operate than gas burners, is to court fossil fuel money. Short sighted, and wrong, at best. That's assuming innocent intent.
Ok… thing bugging me… the Sask NDPers around me who call Lewis' climate politics "ideological", who must, by extension, think that MY climate politics (which are very close to Lewis') are also "ideological". /1
This kind of collaboration?
Why is Mark Carney rejecting gender equity efforts?
Repositioning Canada in the global hierarchy does not mean leaving 50 per cent of the population behind. Now, more than ever before, it’s critical to double down on the commitment to equity.

Congratulations to Avi Lewis on your election as NDP leader. As Prime Minister I will always take a collaborative approach to how we build a stronger Canada, and I look forward to speaking about how we can work together to keep delivering for Canadians.

Climate has almost disappeared from our conversation. But it remains the most pressing challenge of our times. Last week the WMO said the planet is “more out of balance than at any time in observed history.” Energy security and climate security are not competing priorities.
Hey, so if Avi Lewis is already generating obvious concern among media pundits, old guard former NDP leaders, and provincial NDP who embrace Lib/Con lite policies, he's probably onto something very important.
You can safely ignore all pundits and pollsters who are already saying that Avi Lewis needs to run to the centre and be pro-oil, anti-immigration, etc. -- basically, Liberal/Conservative Lite -- or else he can't win. No, he needs to live up to being a real progressive and you'll see what happens.

In shock at the grocery store? In tears looking at your bills? “It’s because the wealth of this country is being hoovered up by a corporate elite who are extracting it from you every single day,” Avi Lewis says. “It’s immoral. It’s unreasonable. It’s un-Canadian. And we cannot let it stand.”
