A first for me: someone just hit the bus with their car (low speed, no one hurt, minimal damage)

Seeing a lot of "here's how I'd optimize the State Fair experience" on the tl. At some point, you have to accept that the State Fair is not built for convenience. Like Disneyland or a professional sports game. If you want to revel in how the Fair is a big, monocultural thing, this is the tradeoff.

Probably a weird take but as a current city-dweller who grew up in a big FFA / 4-H town I honestly see myself as a guest at the fair

I think this is a real ‘you aren’t in traffic, you are traffic’ situation. The fair is for everyone. I wish they could sustainably make it free. It is a real gift that we have our state fair in the city & accessible without a car. & it’s just as much (more…) for rural 4H kids & everyone else.

I get a little sentimental seeing so many people I don't know who gave years of their lives organizing to make my neighborhood better, safer, and more livable. Your work is a gift to people you don't know, who will inevitably take this infrastructure for granted.

new franklin ave isn’t finished and bike path is already game changer. living in loring park it often feels disconnected from new paths on hennepin & bryant and ones downtown so these connections are huge. and esp one going east of 35, area of minneapolis that needs more safe biking infrastructure

My biggest gripe about Hennepin is that some businesses lost their patio space (or are now understandably taking the whole ped right of way for patio). I’m really thrilled that was heard & reflected in the Lyndale design.

You know what's crazy? This guy sells almost everywhere in the US EXCEPT MINNESOTA. Minnesota's public health dept is famous in the food safety world for being #1 at tracking down the source of outbreaks- way faster than any other state. What an interesting coincidence!

I‘d love to invite anyone from the ‘buses are empty’ crowd to take a 4 with me between 7:30-9 AM or 4-5 PM Tuesday through Thursday. Almost always folks standing because seats are scarce. Bus patterns have changed, and there are a lot of people who take the bus.

Actually got to use this bench tonight and hell yes we need a million more of these.

Leaning Tower owner striking a more conciliatory tone than last time. Urging assistance for businesses to get through reconstruction.

Uptown Association, who's mission is to "Promote Economic Vitality" and "Drive initiatives that enhance foot traffic, visibility, and long-term economic sustainability", moved the Uptown Art Fair out of Uptown, is trying to kill Lynlake now too. Not good.

In 1938 Lyndale Avenue was still prioritized for streetcars, with one traffic lane in each direction for autos. After the electric railway system was destroyed in 1954, the tracks and characteristic Belgian stone blocks were simply paved over and Lyndale became a soulless stroad.
