Thinking member of the human race. Prone to sarcasm. join.greenparty.org.uk

Just had a gleeful message from a "centrist" friend sharing a post about the "Green plot" to stop @zackpolanski.bsky.social standing in H&SP by members advocating for another candidate. Dude, that's not a "plot"! It's a democratic selection process. Weird how alien a concept that is to many!

PIP is to help defray the extra costs of disability, not to help you become a productive economic unit. All of the suggestions Millburn makes (practical support, OT etc) are valid, but should be available to ALL not just those claiming an *in work* benefit that's difficult to get.

His report states: “The way PIP works means that the considerable and growing resources devoted to it are not targeted on helping improve the functional capacity of disabled young people, and thereby enhancing their labour market or wider participation prospects.

“There is no consistent provision of practical support with daily living, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation, mental health social work, specialised coaching, workplace assistance or links to the networks that would enable participation.”

Milburn says: “At no point in a young person’s application or journey on PIP are they asked about, or supported to, work. This is not an accident of delivery. It is how PIP is designed.”

“The system measures functioning. It does not plan for improving it. It asks what a young person cannot do,” he adds.

I gave the Green Party a donation to help fight Gorton and Denton and the hope the Green Party gave me by winning (and seeing Labour get hammered) made it worth every single penny. I've just done the same for the local elections. I want to feel that hope again on May 8th

We need to win big on May 7. Thousands of Green candidates are standing across England and Wales. This is a real chance to change politics - to give communities a stronger voice and challenge parties backed by big money. Support the campaign 👉 crowdfunder.co.uk/p/we-deserve...

If you ate 4oz of cheese a day, what would your doctor say? As a low user who load shifts to low co2 hours, I still add nearly 4oz of carbon to the atmosphere for every kwh of electricity I use. I'm doing my best to minimise (with no solar etc) and STILL 4oz/kwh, c12oz/day. We gotta stop!!!

My wonky brain is on top form this morning. It often hears "music" in electrical noises but today is the best ever: Gregorian chanting an Irish jig. Blissfully bizarre!

Had my ADOS. Brought up stuff been working thru with AI in lieu of support network. Discussing capitalism/disability and it came up with: The tragedy isn't that people like you can't contribute. It's that the system spends so much energy excluding you that it never finds out what you had to offer.

Ok, I was already flummoxed by when @zackpolanski.bsky.social actually found time to have a life and, y'know, sleep. But now you're telling me he wrote a bleepin' book too?! Are we *sure* he doesn't use drugs?!

The message is on point, but pay attention to the B-roll footage. That connection with people is priceless and it's why we need Greens in *all* the rooms, at *all* levels of govt. People over profit. Guardianship over growth. And srsly, if it doesn't give you the warm fuzzies, check your heart. 💚💚💚

"Community centres like this, right across the country, who are supporting people in need, need a government who will step up for them." Zack Polanski speaking on the cost of living crisis at the Elizabeth House Community Centre.

The very basics, the things we rely on to build the foundations of a good life, have been taken out of our hands, sold for profit - and then sold or rented back to us at crushing rates. The Green Party is there to inspire people with hope. And now, it's hope and a plan.

Green Party health policy is being updated as we speak and will be voted on at conference this year. Long before the next general election. It's being written by healthcare professionals based on best practice. Labour healthcare policy is written by private healthcare based on profitability.

This is exactly why environmental, economic and social justice are inextricably linked. It should be a no-brainer and the fact that it isn't just goes to show how much our system is in thrall to fossil fuels, capital and the status quo. Tear it up and start over for people and planet. #VoteGreen

Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK. Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
