Puck: give me your hands ❤️ #MoonMad www.english.cam.ac.uk/research/slo... My 8th #SlowShakespeare blog since 2018, DONE. A last magical image of Puck (Rosie Sheehy) @the-rsc.bsky.social Dream 2024. Of all the versions I've included, the 2 that have resonated most have been Brook 1970 & Noble 1994.

A photograph of a play in performance. On a very dimly lit stage, with haze, a person is standing wearing dark trousers and boots, with a pale shirt and red braces. Their arms are outstretched to the side and they're looking up at an enormous cluster of blue-lit orbs of various sizes. It looks magical.

'To hear Joyce sing with his beautiful tenor was an enchanting experience. It meant access to the sound of his innermost being....the human voice, when elevated into song, seemed to him the highest and purest manifestation of music.' Carola Giedion-Welcker, Portraits of the Artist in Exile

Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️ Here is an excellent personification of the great golden orb in the sky, complete with impressive side-eye 👀 Hand-coloured wood cut from Theoricarum novarum textus Georgii Purbachii cum... expositione Domini Francisci Capuani, 1515 (Norton.b.14).

A close-up detail of a hand-coloured woodcut from a corner border, depicting a personified sun with a human face looking downward with a grumpy, unimpressed expression.

A key part of preparing this term's exhibition was reaching out to alumni for their reminiscences. We heard from Delyth Jewell (2005), Bijan Sheibani (1997), Sarah Moss (1994), and James Morris (1996). Swipe to read what they had to say about their time studying English at St Hugh's.
