currently rereading angela carter's THE MAGIC TOYSHOP, my favorite of hers & which i love returning to for its sentences. she got more baroque & lush by BLOODY CHAMBER in a way that's uniquely carterian, but it's amazing to see how polished she was already by her sophomore book
