EggPod Express

Once a Beatles podcast. Now a jaunty stroll through 1960s music magazines with a pot pourri of delicious guests. (But probably mostly a Beatles podcast to be honest) Hosted by @chrisshaweditor.bsky.social iamtheeggpod.com

Happy Revolver day! Here’s that source photos image that ended up all over the web uncredited. It was researched by Beatles fan (and great help for my Sgt Pepper source photos project) Sergey Obod. Yay, Sergey!

Never came across Ron Geesin before. I went straight to A Raise of Eyebrows afterwards. It's a charming album to go with this charming episode. I confess I've also got a Pink Floyd shaped hole in my brain so listened to Atom Heart Mother for 1st time too. It's ace! Thank you for the introduction!

Another cracking episode. I've loved all the brilliant little stories over the last few that make you rethink what you know about classic albums and moments in time. Which I suppose is the whole point of EPExp when you think about. But just to say, it's working really well Chris. Love it.

From this episode: Thanks to Mary we not only have an unpublished photo of The Beatles, but the background story. Below NEMS/the Official Beatles Fan Club was an adult x-rated book shop and the clientele would occasionally wander upstairs to their offices - assuming they’d find more ‘material’…

Finally completed part 2 (it made it into a third dog walk this morning). No exaggeration, this 2 hours has to be one of the finest, most joyous pieces of podcasting ever. What a fantastic celebration of music. Listened to Village Green last night just because. God save the village green.

Wow !! So much in this second part! Great to hear so much about ‘the village green preservation society’ by The Kinks plus so much more nuggets of info not familiar to me. The podcast just gets better and better!!! Thanks Chris and Andy!

In other news… New EggPod Express online! Available anywhere you pod! This, then, is the dramatic conclusion of @iammilliam.bsky.social discussing the 30 November 1968 issue of Melody Maker with Chris Shaw

A hugely enjoyable episode in which you'll spare a thought for a frazzled Chris Welch having to write an entire issue on his own, while marvelling at Ray Davies putting minimal effort into promoting The Village Green Preservation Society (despite being afforded the luxury of discussing each track).
