So air travel can't be that much worse considering there are over twice as many airplane passengers in the US this year vs '86. In flight movie systems are much better and we're slowly getting usable internet. Most important fewer airlines go bankrupt every year.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

I took typing class twice but bad hunt'n'peck habits from my c64 were too deeply ingrained and honestly it was a big loss. My wife can touch type and when she types while maintaining eye contact with a student they think it's dark magic

In all the AI economic doom scenarios the AI rents all accrue to big tech but reality probably is that they’ll accrue to people whose parents bought SF real estate in the 60’s

Here's my crazy D&D Icons theory: it's aimed at retiring Gen X'ers who have time and money to get back in the game. Gen X starts at born in '65, making the first Gen X'ers 61 now. Gen X social security payments start next year. It's a market segment that has time on its hands.

I'm likely going to stop live-posting for now unless new product details come out. But two books a year?!?!?! Darrington Press is seriously stepping up its game. A lot to get excited for as a fan. Lots of smaller bits and bobs coming out in the near term.

literally these are books that would be pulped if not bought for 10 cents on the dollar. do rare books sometimes make it into there? yeah, if someone is careless, but that's *upstream* of what happens on sale, not *downstream*. you fundamentally are rescuing something from the fucking pulper.

Straight from 1987 to my hands... It's surprising that Marc Miller published an adventure for Traveller in a fan zine. I mean, he had lots of places to publish adventures!

A further lean into the Universes Beyond model suggested in this article doesn't have legs. D&D isn't a collectible releasing new products several times per year. The point of UB is to "activate" outside fandoms as often as possible. D&D books aren't released nearly often enough.
