Rejoined the gym after a long absence and going in my late 40s is very different from my early 40s. It’s freeing to know that no one’s checking me out. Though I do feel smug that I’ve yet to see any young gym rats with tattoos that rival mine 😅

Got my first AI-generated writer scam email. Hooray? The obsequious praise of my book, packed to the gills with scraped superlatives, made my eyes roll out of my head. If it was a real person I’d be like, do you really think this is how you win people over 🙄

Never ever apologize for getting someone's book from the library. A lot of them were written by authors who themselves first read a lot of other books in a library

I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.
Someone on a podcast mentioned offhand that “you can train your loved ones to not disturb you while you’re writing” and I don’t think they have kids 😒 (I also don’t want my kid to worry he’s disturbing me if there’s an emergency)

The good thing about our incredibly rancid culture war is that you can and should fight back (in part) by celebrating culture that you love. Especially culture that centers and uplifts marginalized people and rejects the miserable, joyless attitude that's at the heart of so much of our politics.
