MSP for South Scotland 🏴🍉 - Scottish Greens Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Education
Out today talking to the people of Stonehouse ahead of the Avondale & Stonehouse By-Election on September 17th!
Last night we were campaigning In Strathaven. Make sure on September 17th you give Michael Grant your first preference vote for the Avondale and Stonehouse By-Election @scottishgreens.org @electlauramoodie.bsky.social
South Scotland has the railway infrastructure, but we need more trains that actually stop here. I pressed the Transport Secretary for better services at Lockerbie, Reston, Carstairs and Dumfries 🚆
A £2 bus fare cap is coming, but for South Scotland it could be too little, too late. The Scottish Greens want better buses and free bus travel for everyone 🚌
Borders Pride in Galashiels was fabulous! 🌈 A joyful celebration of our LGBTQ+ community and a powerful reminder of the importance of standing together for equality and the freedom to be ourselves. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the day happen 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
A huge congratulations to The Steam Packet Inn in the Isle of Whithorn on being named CAMRA Scotland Pub of the Year! 🍻 Community pubs bring people together and support local economies. I was delighted to lodge a motion in Parliament recognising this well-deserved success.
It's between the Scottish Greens and Reform for the last seat in South Scotland. #VoteScottishGreens. Out on the doors today and tomorrow for the final push.
🚨 NEW POLL! 👉 Vote Scottish Greens 🛑 Stop Reform 🟢 Build a fairer, greener, kinder Scotland Don't leave it to chance.
Reform are accusing me & the @scottishgreens.org of being a 'danger to national security'. That's the same Reform whose former Welsh leader is doing 10yrs in prison for taking Russian bribes to parrot their propaganda. I'm proud to have been sanctioned for the Kremlin while others shilled for it.
Every vote for the Scottish Greens on May 7th is a vote for: 🚌 Free bus travel for all 👶 Free childcare for every child over 6 months 💵 Action to cut our bills by investing in Scotland's huge renewable potential. Let's demand better.

SP26: South Scotland Region Preview
A formerly largely rural region adds some Glasgow commuter belt seats which tweaks 2021 in the Greens’ favour. A big question here will be whether the Conservatives can keep the border seats…

It's a week to go until polling day, and one of the new things in Scotland is improved accessibility and secrecy of the ballot for blind and partially sighted people, including audio descriptions of ballot papers. Lots of useful info about this from the RNIB here: www.rnib.org.uk/nations/scot...

Had a great day in East Kilbride with @krobbgreen.bsky.social visiting the brilliant Agape Wellbeing, discussing stalled sites in town centres like the old Stuart Hotel and chatting to voters.
Banks are raking in billions while the communities around them suffer cuts and underfunded public services. Not long ago tax payers had to stump up tens of billions to bail out irresponsible banks. It’s time for the super-rich and the biggest businesses to pay their fair share.
With your vote delivering more Green MSPs, we can do much better for Scotland, particularly to @electlauramoodie.bsky.social on the peach ballot paper to deliver: 1. Free bus travel for everyone 2. Affordable, accessible childcare 3. More renewables and lower energy bills. Greens.scot/manifesto

Seem like a no-brainer to support local food producers to supply schools, hospitals bringing benefit to jobs, local economy and good nutrition. @electlauramoodie.bsky.social @scottishgreens.org
Sharing this again, as the first postal votes are dropping through letterboxes. Don't fall for the fashy fake greens - look for the logo and vote for the real @scottishgreens.org to demand better for Scotland!
Make sure you vote for the right Greens on May 7th.
On the Channel 4 debate this evening, it's very clear that there Greens are the ones that are going to be the ones cutting bills and tackling the climate crisis. The unionists 'drill baby drill' strategy will keep bills high, hurt energy security, cause economic instability and harm climate
It also won't address the sharply rising costs of our inaction on the climate and nature emergencies. Some analysts say this could cost 12% of global GDP as soon as the end of this Parliament.
Drilling for more oil won't cut bills. To cut bills and create jobs we need to continue the move towards renewable energy.
We can't be complicit in Donald Trump's war crimes. His military must not be allowed to use Scottish infrastructure for his illegal wars.
Labour’s manifesto for the Holyrood elections is so transphobic that Scottish Labour Against Bigotry is telling us not to vote Labour.
With enormous regret, SLAB is today advising supporters not to vote for ANY Scottish Labour candidate in this election. There are several pro-trans Labour candidates standing on 7 May, but a vote for them would now sadly be an endorsement of explicit transphobia. #NoVotesLabourInMay #TransRightsNow
The Scottish Parliament election 🗳️ is in 26 days time on the 7th May 2026. Make sure you are registered to vote to ensure you can have your say. 👉 Register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote… Registration closes on 20th April 2026 (9 days away!)
Interesting @theguardian.com country diary today from a regenerative arable farm in Lincolnshire, by new diarist Colin Chappell. #countrydiary #naturewriting

Brigg, Lincolnshire: The peas are in and next up are maize and wildflowers, but with our fuel use running to 50,000 litres a year, I have one eye on the news

A wee snippet of (a slightly blurry) me talking about the kind of politics I stand for to a wonderful group of people attending an event with Feniks, a local organisation who support the Central Eastern European community in Edinburgh Thank you so much for having me @fenikscentre.bsky.social
Excited to see I'm being tipped for the win! 😀 No past tense here though: I very much still want to see the current prison system come to an end, replaced by alternative victim-focused community justice systems that will keep us all much safer. Vote Scottish Greens on 7th May 🌱
This is a huge backwards step. Deepening our reliance on dirty, expensive fossil fuels would be devastating for our climate and lock us further into wildly fluctuating prices. It would do nothing to lower our bills. The only winners would be the wealthy polluters.
